I received an advance reading copy of this book and it immediately jumped out at me due to it’s colourful, yet beautifully whimsical illustrations.
Chris Robertson’s latest book is dedicated to the children of Sandy Hook Elementary. It’s a simple but powerful tale about a girl, her imagination and her yellow umbrella, on a journey to some amazing places.
The Yellow Umbrella jumps off the page in each of these spreads and despite the fact that it isn’t even raining, the umbrella plays an integral role in the story to help the little girl’s imagination literally fly.
This book was inspired by a 1956 short film “The Red Balloon” and is a truly uplifting story. It shows how the simplest things in life can take us to some wonderful places, with a little help from our imagination.
